SuSE 10.1 installed but cannot boot from hard disk

Hello,

I've installed SuSE 10.1 from CD and specified to wipe any existing data
on the hard disk. The pc had grub with dual boot for SuSE 9 and WinXP
previously.

The install work fine until it comes to the point where it has to biit
from the hard disk. The pc reboots but then won't read from the hard disk.

If I boot from cd and go in to Rescue I can mount the hard disk and I
can see that everything is installed ok. grub's menu.lst file is fine
and cfdisk /dev/hda shows that /dev/hda1 is bootable.

Any clues as to what the problem may be here?
