3. Run the command ldconfig to rebuild the linker cache.
4. Reboot.
I've had no problems since I did this.
Yes, that was exactly the problem and that fixed it so
thankyou very much for your help (and to everyone
who replied).
I now have my system working again which is great. It's
a shame though that this happened. I have been using
SUSE since 8.1 and have always been really happy with
it but since moving to 10.1 I have had a lot of problems
with it. Roll on 10.2!
