I have a 10.0 installation and am thinking about upgrading to 10.1.
Why? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I still mainly use 10.0 and it
does what it must do.
Upgrades are often driven by lack of patches for a given version.
Once patches are no longer available for a particular version, you
*must* upgrade. Other reasons to upgrade might include a particular
feature, service support, software compatibility, new hardware support,
software parity with another platform....etc.
So why from 10.0 to 10.1 specificaly. It is not so much for me a
question, but for the OP to ask himself.
I realy know what the reasons and excuses are to upgrade and more
importand why NOT to upgrade. Whenever somebody says they want to
upgrade a still suported SUSE, I want them to realize WHY they are doing
it, so that they do it with a very contious understanding.
"Curiousity" can be just a valid reason as well. However people must
realize what the risks might be. The risk could be a not working system
for several hours or days, depending on many, many factors.
So the person needs to realize WHY he is upgrading and then look if that
is still worth the time and/or risk. Normaly you would say: if it ain't
broke, don't fix it.
