That is not the way to do the minimal install. You select the minimal
install somewhere at the beginning. With SUSE it is when you can select
KDE or GNOME. With SLED I have no idea.
when I try and install it comes up with a window of dependencies which
show just a handful of apps that are fine, but then when it does the
install it ends up installing tons more stuff like the stupid YAST
crap including postfix and the SUSEFirewall.
Most likely because you have not de-selected enough.
Is it just not possible to install without that stuff? If I want to be
forced to install crap I don't want then I might as well install
windows, as that is what it does best.
I would say that if you want a real minimal install, try another
distribution. SUSE is not know for its minimalistic installs.
It is possible with Linux and people have done it, I just don't think it
is worth the time. So my advice: find another distribution.
