Acroread slow since Suse 10.1?

I have installed Suse 10.1 (new installation) on two machines (PCs) that previously had version 9.3. In both cases I have noticed that acroread takes a LOT longer to launch under suse 10.1 than 9.3. Has anyone expereinced the same problem? Does anyone know why? Can it be solved?
