I get the following error when trying to do the updates:
Establishing script:
libzypp-patch-zmdrestart.sh-2-1533-1.noarch[SUSE-Linux-10.1-Updates]
This would invalidate script:
libzypp-patch-smdrestart.sh-2-1533-1.noarch[SUSE-Linux-10.1-Updates].
Marking this resolution attempt as invalid.
I have searched online for any type of resolution, but haven't been
able to find anyone with a duplicate problem. I have been doing this
on my laptop. I had a different type of problem with the updates on
10.0 where the kernel would make the system unusable. I upgraded to
10.1 this morning and tried the Software Updater and received the
above errors. I tried to setup YAST to do the updates, but it hung
when trying to input the update mirror server info.
Any help would be appreciated.
Which install disk(s) did you use - the remastered one from openSUSE ftp
or one that you purchased (or previously downloaded before October)?
There were a lot of problems with the updater when openSUSE first came
out. If your /home is on a separate partition, I suggest you do a clean
install of / and follow the instructions on Vahis' site here:
http://waxborg.servepics.com/English/Linux/SUSE.10.1/suse10.1.html
I had given up on the updater on this machine, but because YaST was so
broken I finally decided to reinstall. Since my /home is on another
drive - and since KDE was already at the same version as when I
originally installed - the whole thing took maybe an hour and was
completely painless. Following Vahis' guide, everything works
beautifully now. So you might consider doing this.
