new to linux, tried ubuntu and it worked great out the box, suse was a
little different.

I have configured all i can find for networking to my wired ethernet
networks spec.

Ip address (static) 192.168.0.2
default gateway 192.168.0.1
primary DNS 192.168.0.1

Are you sure your gateway provides DNS or does your ISP vendor provide DNS?

All you need on the client is the default gateway. Your ISP will provide
the DNS.

FWIW, I think you can assign static ids on your router. The router knows
the MAC addresses of connected devices and you should be able to assign a
static IP to those MAC addresses at the router.

OTH, in my router I've been using OpenDNS for a couple of weeks now.

Firewall totally disabled

the cable is connected yet i cant even login to my routers interface
through firefox by typing 192.168.0.1 into the address bar. I have no
internet connectivity, it is a dual boot machine with windows XP SP2,
networking in windows with the same settings works fine.

I have tried unplugging the ethernet cable and re plugging it back in, I
have networkmanager enabled and the networking icon in lower panel
displays me as connected so why no internet?

the ironic thing is that I had it working previously but my monitor was
screwed so i reinstalled and got my monitor fixed and now theres no
internet, cant think why, can anyone help me at all with this, tried a
reinstall once to see if that would fix problem but it didnt.

TIA
