I am new to SuSE 10.1 and my install recognizes my atapi zip 250 drive
but wouldn't work with it. I added to /dev a new hdb4 copied from the
original hdb and renamed. To the /media folder I created a zip folder
to read /media/zip. Also in /mnt I created a zip folder to read
/mnt/zip. Next I created symbolic links to both /media and /mnt with
the commands ln -s /dev/hdb4 /media/zip and ln -s /dev/hdb4 /mnt/zip.
I then added to fstab the line /dev/hdb4 /media/zip. My problem is this
... I can use the zip drive fully as root but when logged in as a user
I cannot. Any editing while logged in as root is not recognized or
changed so I am unable to edit the permissions for this device to read,
write and execute.

I have installed a parallel port external ZIP250 drive as /dev/sdb4 and made an appropriate addition in /etc/fstab.
