So there we have it. He has the expertise. To say that it is proove that
Linux is cheaper is not true. It is true in his case, but again the only
difference is the price of the product itself. What you are saying is
that a free (gratis) download is cheaper then something you pay for.
Yeah, alright. I get what you're saying. My understanding was that TCO
included not only the purchase cost, but also the cost of upgrades, the cost
of support, the time spent getting the system set up, down-time resulting
from system failures and that sort of thing.
But since he's got all the expertise in-house, and would be paying them the
same rate whether they were using a Windows network or Linux, then his costs
(other than the purchase price for the software) would be pretty much the
same, wouldn't they?
Well, DUH!. :-D
