Linux people trust a Novell person these days.
1. Novell supports (supported) linux (not only SUSE) real well.
Used to until it decided to sign away the most basic right of open source, a
right that it did not have the locus standi to sign away.
2. Eventually there may be a deal with MS where the other party benefits -
why not now?
To repeatedly try the same thing expecting a different result each time is a
definition of something that I cannot recall right now.
3. The GPL2 / GPL3 issue boils down to changing the rules, but as I
understand it, essentially the MS deal would be worthless. So why bother?
Along with it, Novell's offerings will be worthless as well since they
wouldn't, pending a court case against them about their cute run around GPL
v2, be able to use any GPLv3 projects. Getting behind in versions of
userland (gcc etc.)
Fork, baby, fork.
