What can be done other than that?
What is it for?
on a now obscured window... now they can be easily seen.
I can put full screen VMware sessions on each face of
the cube...which is somewhat interesting if something
is happening at the same time on both.. though arguably
could be done with VMware in window'd mode, just not
as "large".
Colors of individual windows can be inverted ... color
of whole display as well... but just doing a particular
window is interesting.
Making a window that is showing a movie or tv feed
partially transparent so you can see what is happening
and still do some work.
The ability to quickly see all overlapping windows and
select the one that you want to focus on without having
to rotate through each and every one of them.
Same as above, can be used to quickly see lots of
obscured windows while activity is happening on them
and then allow them to go back to their obscured positions.
Transition effects make it easier to determine when a
window was minimized vs. merely crashing into oblivion.
Right now compiz/beryl are mainly just reference implementations
of technology. It is up to interface designers to help figure
out the best use of the technology... and, mere eye candy
is ONE use of the technology (believe it or not).
