I should have mentioned that I have tried mounting the camera using
the original Suse10 kernel (2.6.13_15) and 2.6.17.9 (which is
compatible with suse10).
Have also tried different SD cards to no effect. There are no USB
settings I can change on the camera, and I don't have a USB SD card
reader, so can't try that either.
Any other ideas?
Just go buy a usb card reader. I don't know where you live, but you can
get one with 14 different sized slots here (California, USA) for under
$30. This is really a better way to go no matter what operating system
you use. The camera doesn't need to be on, using up its batteries. You
don't need to screw around with drivers or flaky camera software or
worry that the flaky camera software isn't available for your operating
system. I have 10.1 but even in 10 there was no problem using a card
reader. Plug it in and it's just another removable drive.

I think I agree with you on that one. It is a better solution.
Thanks again to everyone who offered advice.
Paul.
