I tried PCLinuxOS and Ubuntu. They are too restrictive. No native rpm
program. Restricted repositories. Pain in the *** to install what you
want. They are nice and probably good for newbies (hard to screw up) but
not for most users. Too much work to bypass their blocks.

I have several SuSE machine and one Ubuntu. I wanted to see what it
was since it shows as the most popular installed Linux OS distro. It's
really quite nice and well engineered. It only comes on one CD
instead of 5 (or a DVD), so it is incomplete in some sense. But there
are no blocks, and there is tons of community support. I've been able
to easily do a lot with my instance of it. I've got the latest nVidia
drivers, can play DVDs, do Google Earth, run Windows programs under
WINE, etc. Ubuntu is a really nice distro, and I see why it's so
popular. However, SuSE is surely more convenient if you really want
to delve into your Linux OS.
