Re: Turn Off Power Save???

I recently installed OpenSUSE 10.2 (KDE desktop) and really like it
(even the new KDE menu system). However, I cannot seem to be able to
disable the power save functions. I want my screen saver to run all of
the time, but after 15 minutes the monitor shuts off. I've looked
everywhere I know to look and cannot figure out how to turn off the
PowerSave feature. I did the following:

Right-click on the desktop -> Configure Desktop and un-checked
everything I could find on the KPowerSave settings.

Went to YAST -> System -> Power Management. I disabled all "suspend"
permissions.

Went to YAST -> System -> System Service (Runlevel) and disabled
powersaved and powertweakd.

Still, the monitor shuts off after 15 minutes of inactivity. What am I
missing? Thanks for your help.

How I did it. Open KDE Control Center, click on "peripherals", click on
"Display", click on the power control tab, Click configure KPowersave
button. When that window opens, the only box that should have an x in it
is "Enable specific display power management". I know it sounds
backwards but bear with me. The "Standby after" setting should be set to
"0 min" (zero), Suspend after = 0min, and Power off after = 0min. Click
ok and exit the control center. That's how mine is set and the monitor
does not turn off. HTH
