I just used YaST --Network Devices--Network Card.
Setup method used "User Controlled with Network Manager"
"Edit" button for a highlighted card.
In "Advanced" drop down menu is "IPv6" as one option, there you can turn
IPv6 on/off. Default is "Disable IPv6".

Yes, that indeed works on an interface basis ! I had not noticed that
field in "Advanced" prior to 10.2. It also is there when you use the
traditional method. Case closed. Thanks.
