When 10.2 was installed it asked if you wanted to 'disable IPv6', which
it did successfully. In the past you had to make changes to
/etc/modprobe.conf. How does it do it ? I have been looking in the /etc
directory for a global configuration setting without success.
What do you mean without success?
I have not found the configuration setting that diabled IPv6.

There's no modprobe.conf there??
Yes there is a modprobe.conf and have the following settings,

alias sit0 ipv6
alias net-pf-10 ipv6

What does lsmod tell you?
That the IPv6 module is not loaded, as you would suspect if it is disabled.

Is the ipv6 module loaded?
No.

What are you trying
to do anyway?
To clarify, all the configuration files have IPv6 enabled (that I can
find), but I did disable IPv6 when the installation occurred. It is
disabled, I just want to know what settings are there to accomplish IPv6
disabling (what file, what setting). Hopefully this is understandable.

The control of IPv6 appears to be in /etc/sysconfig/sysctl file and the
variables are IPV6_FORWARD and IPV6_PRIVACY.

Nothing is straight here, the file /etc/modprobe.d/ipv6 is also involved

The line 'install ipv6 /bin/true' does not load the module and if it is
commented out it will load ipv6 !
