i followed the instructions for beryl with Xgl to the letter

and i went down to the troubleshooting part still nothig

if i uninstall beryl and leave compiz, compiz does work
but does not function properly have updated compiz

any pointers on how to fix

What's beryl supposed to do for you that xgl doesn't?

install it and find out what it does
