Have you tried to check font settings in OpenOffice.
In menu bar
Tools -- Options -- OpenOffice.org -- Fonts
will give you optortunity to define replacements.
Original user interface font is Andale Sans.
This nformatio was found in
/usr/lib/ooo-2.0/README
