Internet sharing

Hi,
I'm having real problems setting up my network as I want in Suse10.1.
I have two machines, both a bit old, both dual boot. The worse is a
laptop, running PCLinuxOS (because it's fast) and WinXP. The more
powerful machine (desktop) is made from scavenged parts and is running
Suse 10.1 and WinXP.
The desktop has two network cards, an old 10Mb card (eth2) for the
internet (it's only a 8Mb connection) and the on board 100Mb card
(eth0) to connect to the laptop.
What I want to do is share the internet between the machines regardless
which machine is booted into what.
I've got it working if the desktop is in WinXP, but I can't do the Suse
end. I'm new to Linux so I might be missing something an old hand would
know.
I can't even get both network cards active at the same time in Suse.
KNetworkManager disable one when enabling the other.
I've followed:
http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/16579.html
bar the last step because I don't need the machine to be a DHCP Server.
I know the IP addresses I want.
I can get both network cards working by doing
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
in the Shell. But why can't I do it through KNetworkManager?
Is there a config file I can just configure to start up both network
cards?
Joe
