An important part for everyone is in that paragraph. As a private
person, most of it doesn't apply. As an organisation, it does. If you
read it, it states that you can make as many copies as you wish for use
by your organisation. This means that you can make a copy for every
machine, in every department, within the organisation. What you can't do
is make a copy for a subsidiary. Someone in each subsidiary has to
either buy, or download, a copy of their own.
See how far out of hand this thread has gotten? It started here, with the
above statement, last sentence. It does not say that. Look again.
Second sentence of the paragraph;
"You may make and use unlimited copies of the Software for Your
distribution and use within Your Organization."
Third sentence;
"You may make and distribute unlimited copies of the Software outside Your
organization provided that: 1) You receive no consideration; and, 2) you do
not bundle or combine the Software with another offering (e.g., software,
hardware, or service)"
Whether the "other entities" are considered part of the organization, or
outside of the organization, unlimited copies of the Software can be
distributed to them, as long as there is no violation of the two specified
conditions.
All of the following blather about how to get around the license, or how
many downloads are needed, or how many copies can be made from each
download, and how to sync them, in different locations, is covered in the
third sentence, and the majority of the rest of this thread is useless
wheel spinning.
I've been waiting to see when someone would point out this error, but as
nobody else seemed to notice... It's a dirty job, but somebody had to do
it. :)
I still say the OP was trolling, and a couple of folks, who should know
better, got hooked, and played.
On the bright side, I like the progress you're making on the DavjamOS
project. ;)
