Why did you mess with it in the first place. They work find as is.
Ever tried to handle an U3 devices in linux ?
Yes, the U3 devices work as long as you ignore the small "cd-loolalike"
partition. In W*, they are pretty useless, as one has no chance to
deactivate the "cd-lookalike" drive which installs and runs some unwanted
software.
Who invented U3 should be xxx, yyy and zzz in public or be
sentenced to give 20 years support of Windows 95.
to luismg:This won' work for U3 as partition table is on a cdrom look alike device
find the devicename, where the flash is connected (most of the
time /dev/sda) and try this (as root):
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda count=1024
Oh boy you are giving a lot of rope away....
after completion, the partition table and the file system is destroyed.
remove and replug the stick to notify the OS of this fact.
Then repartition and reformat the device.
Attention: if /dev/sda is your root device, you have the chance to verify
the completeness of your system backup :-)
Please insert floppy in drive A:>
