Problem with DVI, but not with D-sub?


Just bought a new LG L204WT LCD and trying to get it to run at 1680x1050@60Hz. When I use the D-sub cable, all is fine and works perfectly. When I use the DVI cable, it will not work at any resolution above 1280x1024.

I've tried the usual CTRL-ALT-F1, login as root, init 3 and sax2, and when using the DVI cable, that will let me select 1680x1050@60Hz, but when I hit test it drops to 1280x1024. I thought it may have just been a bug in the test routine, but when I 'init 5 && exit' it is indeed back at 1280x1024! Why can I not get DVI to work at 1680x1050 when the D-sub works fine (with no tweaking either!!).

Currently using the D-sub at 1680x1050 so it's not a major issue, just curious as to why the DVI wouldn't work. What am I missing?
