Hi,
I just installed openSUSE 10.2 and installed all the updates. That part
went smoothly. I tried to change the resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768.
After rebooting, I am no long able to access the desktop.
The error I get is:
Failed to start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely
that
it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the X server output to
diagnose the problem?
<Yes> <No>
I choose Yes and these are the errors I got:
(EE) I810(0): Monitor 2 cannot be specified on a single pipe devices
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
Fatal server error:
No screens found.
I have an Intel 845G chip based video card.
How can I fix this issue. Please keep in mind I am new to Linux. I am
moving from Windows XP.
Thanks.
1. At the first screen choose 'SafeSettings' to log in under vga mode
2. run yast -> Hardware -> Graphics Card and Monitor
3. Choose settings that work !! Save and reboot
Or at first login screen in the options window type init 3 to log in at
runlevel 3. You'll get a text prompt. Login as root (type su). Give the
root password. Now type yast to get yast running and do as above to
set your video mode correctly. Then reboot.
