That is obvious because you are in your homedirectory and the file is
not there. To know where a command is you can do `which avidemux` and
that will probably point to /usr/bin/avidemux.
Also you can do it all on one line (including the backticks):
file `which transcode`

That does not mean that avidemux exists or is even the same. Therefore
the "file `which transcode`" command. Most likely that will show a
symlink to the file you said.
