No point in restarting the DSL modem, the router or the switch as my
other
computers on the LAN are having no trouble getting DNS information.
I've
re-booted the Linux box several times, to no avail.
Type /sbin/ifconfig in a terminal and tell us what you get.
Well, I found the problem -- sort of.
If I allow DHCP to assign the IP address and the NIC to get the DNS
servers from DHCP then it works. If I assign a static IP address, it
doesn't work . . . even if I manually provide the DNS server addresses.
This is a problem -- this machine requires a static IP address so I can
port-forward from the router to it.
Open yast - network - network card, from there you can assign an ip and
subnetmask to your nic.
Dont forget to fill in the standard gateways with your router ip address.
