Down and dirty way. Pop the drive out of the external enclosure, open
your computer case and attach it there. If it is IDE remember to set the
jumper correctly. Format, uninstall the drive and put it back into the
external enclosure. I had to do this a couple of times when the file
system was messed up. Don't know why it made a difference but it worked.
