yast and email

while trouble shooting connection problems with dsl I decided to bypass
router/network and connect modem direct to NIC, using yast to config dsl.
after config using yast,( which I couldn't get working) I reverted back to
router/network. I noticed eth0 activity but I had no browser or other
internet application running. later when I checked my e-mail there was no
e-mail on my isp provider. (I leave my e-mail on server and archive once a
month). My question is where did it go? What program does yast use to
download e-mail and where did it put it?
Thanks in advance for any help.
