"Unable to retrieve the printer list"

That's the error message, followed by "Connection to CUPS server
failed... the IPP request failed for an unknown reason."

Using SUSE 10.2 under VMWare's VMPlayer. All updates installed.
VMPlayer shows the "Canon USB device" (my local printer) as active.
SUSE doesn't find it. In addition to the error messages above which
come up when I go to manage printers, when I try to add a printer SUSE
finds no USB devices.

Any ideas?
