Not long ago, I had to do a re-install of OpenSUSE10.2 due to an
unexplained lockup. Everything is working perfectly now, except I am
unable to play any videos (from the news stations, Googlevideo, YouTube,
etc.) in the newest Firefox.

The videos all access my players (RealPlayer and Mplayer) from Konqueror.
I used to get access to most of them from Firefox. Doing some Googling on
the subject brings up a number of conflicting solutions, most of which
were written for earlier editions of Firefox and may not apply to the
latest.

Any simple ideas from those who have encountered this?

Do you have the Flash 9 plug-in?
In case not, it's available at http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW

Yes I do. To make certain that it is the latest version, I downloaded the
rpm, told YAST to install it and received this message:

"package flash-plugin-9.0.31.0-release is already installed"

Thanks for the good try.

Just to make sure, see that a symlink to the flash plugin is in firefox's plugin directory. If there is none there, Firefox won't know where to look.
