You have just discoverd the reason I do not use any GUI software for
backups. ;-)
Loading new applications using their tools was very easy
compared to RPM, but if something isn't included you must search it
out and do a tedious manual install.
How does it compare to YaST and/or smart?

better update, because SuSE doesn't have any software updates anymore.
Start using openSUSE. ;-) (Seriously, why do people keep using the old
name? And if using the old name, why not S.u.S.E.? After all, the name
SUSE does not mean anything anymore)
