By "less overhead in the coding" do you mean the application's code
or the kernel that is used?

Out of curiosity, how do the kernels compare? Version differences,
bootup speed, features, etc.?


The Ubuntu 7.04 uses a newer kernel. It also booted up faster than
OpenSuSE (did I spell that correctly this time, Houghi?)
Applications came up faster in Ubuntu, and not having dug into the
code, I don't know exactly where to place the credit.

Ubuntu is definitely geared more toward the GUI interface.
It has a terminal to be sure, but their version of file commands is
reduced from what I am accustomed to use. For instance, it has a
"ls" but a "l" just returns "command not found."
