I ran the command "rcapache2 start" and all was fine. Browsing to
http://localhost on my Linux box gave me the message "It's
working" (or something similar). I added an index.html file to my ~/
public_html directory and by browsing to http://localhost/~robin I can
access that fine.
However, I can't access the webserver from my XP box on the network.
Going to http://192.168.1.7 (the address of the Linux box) gives me
nothing - it just times out.
Both firewalls are off.
The network runs through a 3Com ADSL router.
Any clues?
Is it possible that your router (like mine) disallows *ALL*
access, even from within the local net. I had to open port
80 (the standard web page port) to my local server to see it
from other machines on the same local net.
