Starting a Script Just After Console Login

I think that this is a pretty basic question, but I have found many
different references to startup scripts online. I basically want to be able
to start a script or application just after a console login (I.E. at the
same time that you would see the "Have a lot of fun..." text message. Can
anyone tell me where to look for these post login type scripts?

Thanks,

Jay
