You need to change it NOT to automount. Default is automount and all
rights. You could even mount things as 'read only'. That way nobody can
delete anything by accident.
Also you could have a backup server. e.g. using Storeabckup
http://en.opensuse.org/StoreBackup and then just use the remote server
for the backups as it will see the remote server as a directory.
