Yes, they claim all of this:
There's also a breakdown of the alleged violations given:
* Linux kernel - 42 violations
* Linux graphical user interfaces - 65 violations
* Open Office - 45 violations
* Email apps - 15 violations
* Misc - 68 violations
Copy write infringements. they say.
Well I claim I own all the cars that I do not make.
I also own all the stuff at garage sales.
I also own everything at the dump.
If Microsoft can do it, so can I.
I guess if you can't compete you sue (which I assume is where this is
heading). How does MS actually know there are violations? Do they have a
copy of the source code for all of these?
The reason it's called 'open source' is because the source is available to
everyone. MS certainly could have a copy - of course, SCO could have too.
Assuming these alleged violations are true, could MS actually stop
distribution of Linux, OpenOffice, etc? If so, that really stinks.
If so - yes. I would not loose much sleep over the possibility. I think
it's just 'sabre rattling'.
