Re: SuSE10 KDE problems

Hello all!

I seem to have a number of problems that may not even be related to
the graphical environment - but at this point this is my best guess.
The problems basically amount to various applications - OpenOffice and
others - freezing for no apparent reason.

Anyone encountered that? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Boris.

Yea, lots of times, though it sometimes seems to be dependent on a
variety of things. I'm running 10.2/KDE on 2 systems constantly, and
the first one was (don't use it for that anymore) having problems with
OO - it would freeze the system when I went to open a file. I brought
it up to a yahoo group for OO users, and several had the problem on
assorted Linux distributions. I tried installing 2.0.2 of OO and it
didn't help. Also, it has been reported to the OO team.

Those two systems are identical except for IDE drives in the first and
SATA in the second and slightly different CPU speed ratings. Both have
dual 250's - no raid. Both have 1G RAM and more than 1G swap.

ON my latest system, I have no problem with OO (standard version on the
DVD), but Firefox gives me freezing or sudden reboot problems with a lot
of graphic heavy pages open.

I do not normally shut the systems down, and they run very cool.

I have not had problems with other software freezing, including
Thunderbird - always running constantly.
