error message "fsck failed"

Dear everyone,

I am not able to enter the SUSE linux operating system. When the
operating system is loading I get the following message and then am
prompted for the root password:

___________________________________________________________________________
fsck failed. Please repair manually and reboot. The root file system
is currently mounted read-only. To remount it read-write do:

bash# mount -n -o remount, rw/

_________________________________________________________________________

How can I fix this problem?

All suggestions welcome.
