You've got it wrong. Martin was referring to the precompiled modules on
the htpp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.2/ repository.

Better to be wrong with a working driver than right and have a blank
screen.

See http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html

There are several reasons for this. First, it's simple. Second, and this
is the most important one, you won't need to recompile the nvidia kernel
module after a kernel update.

How many update their kernel ever? And wow, the Nvidia compile takes
almost 3 minutes, less time than it takes to read how to go through all
those gyrations.

Update your Kernel via YOU (YaST Online Update). Use

YaST -> Software -> Installation Source -> Add

Protocol: HTTP
Server Name: : download.nvidia.com
Directory on Server: /opensuse/10.2
........................"

All of which makes a simple task overly complicated and fraught with
peril.

Fits in nicely with other "leaps in progress" like booting to runlevel
5, autoconfiguring X, and 1 kernel fits all.
