Hello clever peeps,
After a kernel update of 10 days ago, I have lost my x server also! I
have followed some of the instructions posted earlier, but to no avail.
I have tried to run yast from text mode, but it doesn't seem to help
either. Sax2 will not run from init 3.
Its an Nvidia 6600gt card, the system has been very stable up until the
last kernel update.
If I run the 10.2 hard drive from a second machine usb2 link, will I be
able to download the nvidia driver to its home directory and install it
from there?
My problem is that I dont seem able to download the driver in text mode,
to install it.
Any ideas please. Would rather not re-install, but just might.... its
doing my head in...AAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHH!!!
Dave,
Have you tried to run SaX2 using then OSS nvidia driver? I think
sax2 -r -m 0=nv
should do it, but I am unable to test this right now.
This should get you up and running to download whatever you need. After
that, install the binary driver however you did last time.
