Especially when the O/P multiposted this to 'alt.os.linux' (where he
ran into a ***-storm), alt.os.linux.gentoo, alt.os.linux.suse,
alt.uu.comp.os.linux.questions (now there's a well read group),
comp.os.linux.misc, comp.os.linux.setup, and uk.comp.os.linux (that
I've seen - there may be others). He did NOT post it to the moderated
group 'comp.os.linux.announce' (or maybe he tried to, but it bounced
because he's posting from google, rather than his ISP's news server.)

Obviously hadn't bothered to scan the previous month's worth of posts
(trivial to do on google groups), or he might have noted the different
character of each newsgroup. (Don't all newbies run Gentoo?)
