So do i need GDM for a 3d desktop beryl in particular?hi, you didn't mention your graphics card.
I've got a nvidiaGF6800
With nvidia beryl is able to work, with ATI possibly too. With other
cards no luck.
have you installed beryl manager? is xgl running?
I presume you used this guide?:
http://nl.opensuse.org/Beryl
but which steps did you do?
i haven't begun yet, i first wanted to know if the guide is any usefull to
me if i keep using KDM as display manager.
I had it working once with opensuse 10.1 so i know my hardware is OK.
I also didn't install gnome and it's working fine with kde. you will install
several gnome libraries anyway because many applications need gtk2 etc.
