Well guess what, I downloaded Opensuse 10.3 Alpha 6, burned it and
installed it on a clean, secure erased drive. It hung up on writing the
boot loader! Something is up with hda0 track 0 and I think it's Windoz.
Which only proves that you don't know what is going on.
If you can't write the boot sector then you have:
A) A defective drive
B) BIOS protecting the boot sector
C) Bad or the wrong installation media
Windows can't do ANYTHING to stop the Linux install from writing to the
disk. I may try and write over it later, but can't block Linux.
Have you tried installed your boot loader on the Linux partition instead of
the boot sector? Then use the Windows boot manager to choose which OS to
run? (I'm assuming here that you're smart enough NOT to run Vista).
