can't print to parallel printer

Hi,

I have freshly installed OpenSuSE 10.2 which detected my hp deskjet 960c during the installation.

However I can't print to it. No error message, no testpage printed.

I have also tried several PPD files, same result.
Echoing to /dev/lp0 gives no result either.

When I connect the same printer via USB, it works.

What can I do, what information do you need to help me?
