Re: "jumping" display

Hi,

a minor annoyance in my openSuSE 10.2 system:

the grub screen fits my screen
the booting screen is shifted to the left (0.5 cm)
after login the screen is shifted to the right (0.5 cm)
(it's just enough to hide the scrollbar)

I tried to adjust in sax (via YasT). It says that the correction will
be active after the next graphics restart, but it isn't.

The auto button on my screen adjusts - but afterwards in WindowsXP I have
to shift back.

Known problem?

The size you get with grub does not always match what your desktop is
set to provide. (Dunno why) There may be a way to tweak it, but when I
get a screen that is a touch too wide or is askew I can sweep the mouse
to the buried side and the picture moves over revealing whatever is
missing. Good enough for grub I reckon, and I save my most careful
adjusting for the desktop. To be sure, and I really don't know that it
will help, but tweak a closely as you can with sax2 and the use the
screen controls on your monitor for fine adjustments. Log out and choose
the option to save your current state. YOu rdesktop should be properly
sized from here on in, until you change it. Grub might not be but as
long as you can see what you need to, well. fugeddaboutit. ;)
