I have downloaded a couple avi files and i'm not quite sure on how the dvd
burner works but I believe that it will take to avi file and directly burn
it to the dvd but i want in the dvd format on the dvd so it will play in
my older player.
do i need to get a converter then burn it or is there something in the k3b
or the gnome burner to convert it for me?

thank you.

ManDVD (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=38347), also in
packman repository, allows you to burn a DVD directly from .AVI files. All
you've got to do is to "create" the DVD and it will do the conversion for
you.
