Doyou mean playing mp3 s or creating them? AFAIK it does support playing
them. MP3 is proprietary format and the company that owns the patent would
sue SUSE if they included lame in thier distr.

DVD copying is more difficult, since not only are the dvdcss issues but
also compression issues.
