Update failing

I keep getting an update notice. If I tell it to proceed (or if I do update
in Yast) it will bring up the list of items to update, which is currently
php5 security update. There is nothing in the list that has a lock icon on
it. If I don't change any check marks and 'accept' it cancels the update.
Then as soon as I am back to normal operations, I get the 1 update
available notice. It will do that loop as long as I tell it to proceed.

Trying it again, this time I clicked on the very top item on the patch list
(php5: security update). That added a click to several php5-... items in the
installed packages list that I did not have checked before, so now it looks
like I am going to install the whole batch of php5 items.

So I clicked accept and it went to the update download and install screen,
paused briefly while it went out to the update site, and then instantly
finished the installation. At least it used the linker when I told it to
close to inform various packages (about one third of the normal list).

So there is a problem with the update process not being able to tell if
things are updated. Or the the update process does not set all the flags
it needs to set. And even this time it failed to fix the problem: If I
pass my mouse over the round blue icon, it says that there is 1 update
available.
