nolapic

"loading kernel" seems to be fine but it gets stuck on a screen saying:

Hi,
The MTRR message points to a something in the bios of your PC. MTRR
stands for 'memory type range registers'. The message is in itself not a
problem; it's just warning and linux will use the settings for all
processors which is correct, so don't worry about it.
Your problem has to do with some IRQ setting. Try to do a few things in
the bios first and if not succesful afterwards give parameteroptions to
grub during the boot to fix this, see bootprompt-howto document. Try to
find out which device has got which irq etc.

These data are from the Windows Device Manager and it doesn't show
anything on IRQ5...that's weird, no?
Can anyone help?
