So there is a problem with the update process not being able to tell if
things are updated. Or the the update process does not set all the flags
it needs to set. And even this time it failed to fix the problem: If I
pass my mouse over the round blue icon, it says that there is 1 update
available.

I had this problem. It had to do with a perl HomeDir update that wasn't
automagically checked. I selected it and it installed. This seemed to fix
the problem. So, scroll down the list and see if you have the Perl HomeDir
entry and select it.
