Yep, been through all that. What you need to do is
cd /usr/src/linux
make mrproper cloneconfig prepare modules_prepare
for some reason prepare-all does not work any more. (?)
Then compile the latest version which works with the current kernel. (I
downloaded
http://tuxx-home.at/vpn/Linux/vpnclient-linux-x86_64-4.8.01.0640-k9.tar.gz
which works with 2.6.22)
